FREE Beginning Digraph Puzzles

You can use these puzzles to practice phonemic awareness {isolating and segmenting individual sounds} as well as phonics!

The digraphs included in this free puzzle pack are: ch, sh, th, wh, wr, kn, ph, & gn.

Beginning Digraph Puzzles - ch examples

Place the picture puzzle pieces out first.

Learners can name the pictures and listen for the digraph at the beginning of the word. For example, /ch/ is the digraph sound at the beginning of chalk and cheese.

Give learners the puzzle pieces with the beginning digraph letters and have them match up the pieces of each puzzle. By having learners complete the puzzle, you’re connecting sounds {or phonemes} to letters {or graphemes}, which is phonics.

Confused about blends and digraphs? I’ve got a post and video that can help!
